UPP awarded ‘Gold’ accreditation by Investors in People

| 25.03.2021 | 3 minutes read |

UPP, the UK’s leading provider of on-campus residential and academic accommodation, has been awarded Gold accreditation by Investors in People (IiP).

This great result is only achieved by a small number of companies and reflects our ongoing commitment to making UPP a great place to work for our team of around 1,000 people.

IiP represents organisations across 66 countries and has made work better for 11 million people.  Successful accreditation at Gold level is the sign of a great employer and a great place to work with a clear commitment to sustained success through people.

Based on a tried and tested framework and a rigorous process of assessment, organisations that meet the Investors in People standard proudly display their accreditation to the world because they understand that it is people that make the difference.

UPP’s people work with partners and students to deliver a great campus experience, looking after 35,000 students on a daily basis, helping them settle in and make the most of their university experience.

Discussing the accreditation and the importance of employee development, CEO of UPP, Elaine Hewitt said:

“I am delighted that the UPP team has secured Investors in People Gold status, which is an outstanding achievement for any organisation. This external recognition reflects our commitment to investing in our people and building a culture that puts people at the heart of our business. It is testament to how everyone in our organisation works to build strong communities.

“I am massively grateful to our teams across the country for their incredible dedication and hard work and very proud to be leading such a great team with an exciting future ahead.”

Gwen Powell, International Manager at IiP and UPP’s practitioner since 2015, said:

“UPP’s We invest in people Gold award evidences how they go above and beyond to engage their people and stakeholders in everything they do. Although their people are distributed across the UK, teams work exceptionally well together, as well as cross functionally, and collaborate on a variety of initiatives. Well done UPP from Investors in People – being Gold means you shine a beacon for others to see and learn from your example.”
