UPP donates over £32,000 to Teenage Cancer Trust in charity partnership

UPP is proud to announce the donation of over £32,000 to its charity partner, Teenage Cancer Trust – a charity chosen by UPP colleagues. Fundraising activities over the last two years have included a push up challenge, bake sales, a Christmas market and a sponsored walk. Three UPP colleagues ran marathons to raise funds for the charity, who offer care and support for young people going through cancer.

UPP is the leading provider of on-campus student accommodation infrastructure and support services in the UK.

UPP chose the Teenage Cancer Trust as its charity partner following an employee vote. Employees then raised over £16,000 through a range of activities which has been matched by UPP Gives, a partnership between UPP and the UPP Foundation. This means the total donated to Teenage Cancer Trust will be £32,821.78.

Elaine Hewitt, CEO of UPP said:

“We are delighted to donate over £32,000 to the Teenage Cancer Trust, following two years of inspirational fundraising by UPP people across the country.

“Colleagues, including staff at student residences in Exeter, Reading and Lancaster, to name just a few, have dug deep to challenge themselves, all in aid of this incredibly worthy cause.

“UPP is proud to give back to the communities we are part of and I would like to thank everyone in UPP for helping us do that.”

Judith Anderson, Senior Relationship Manager, Teenage Cancer Trust, said:

“Cancer is tough.  Every day, seven young people in the UK aged 13 to 24 hear the words “you have cancer”.

“But Teenage Cancer Trust’s work puts young people in the best possible place, physically, mentally and emotionally, for their cancer treatment and beyond.

“We do that by funding expert nurses, support teams, and hospital units. And we’re the only UK charity dedicated to providing this specialised nursing.

“But we’re completely dependent on donations for all of this work, which is why we’re so very grateful to be supported by UPP over the last 2 years.

“A huge and heartfelt thank you from everyone at Teenage Cancer Trust to everyone involved.”
